The seminar discussed the role of measurements in construction and project supervision activities, the importance of metrological support, and modern technologies applied in this field. As part of the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture”, a seminar on “The Role and Importance of Measurements in Construction and Project Supervision Activities” was held as a joint initiative of the Azerbaijan Metrology Institute (AzMI), operating under the State Agency for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Along with employees of state institutions, representatives of a number of companies operating in the construction and design sectors also participated in the seminar. During the event, speeches were delivered by Khamis Seyranov, Director General of AzMI; Nizami Yusifov, Deputy Director of the Azerbaijan Scientific-Research Institute of Construction and Architecture; Kamala Mammadzade, Acting Director General of the Azerbaijan Institute of Standardization (AZSTAND); and Mahammad Musayev, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of ArchiCO Engineering Company. The speakers addressed the role and importance of metrology in construction and project supervision. It was noted that ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurements in the field contributes to the proper implementation of projects, the safety of structures, as well as minimizing material losses and additional costs. The speakers also highlighted the role of modern technologies in increasing measurement accuracy and the integration of technological tools with Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems in detecting errors at an early stage. In addition, emphasis was placed on the impact of key measurement instruments used in geodesy, linear and angular measurements, testing laboratories, and engineering systems, as well as metrological support, on construction quality and safety. This was followed by a presentation on “The Role of Standards in Sustainable Urban Planning Processes”. Information was provided on AZSTAND’s areas of activity, the national standardization programme and its representation in international technical committees, as well as standards adopted in the fields of environment, transport, and construction. At the end of the event, participants toured the laboratories of AzMI.
